These dowels are made of hardwood and is excellent to use as axles or other wood projects. If you drill a 3/8" hole the 3/8" dowel will squeak into it, not fall through. This is the same for all diameters. You can always make a tight dowel loose by sanding. They are 4mm in diameter and sold 8/pkg.
